I'd love to support you guys! Do you take donations?

Thank you so much! As you can imagine, caring for a one hundred-year-old building comes with a long list of expenses. We would be extremely grateful if you wanted to support our building maintenance fund for much-needed repairs and restorations. If you would like to support our programing at a higher level, please consider purchasing a movie sponsorships package to allow us to offer a free showing to the community.
Are you BYOB?

As a general rule, outside food and drink are prohibited for public events. Concessions are available for purchase on-site. Every once in a while a specific event will be BYOB — if that is the case, it will be noted on the event page and ticket. Our free community showings are never BYOB and outside food and drink are not allowed.
Do you sell food/drinks?

We sell concessions during all of our public movies. This includes popcorn, candy, and soft drinks. Some events have additional food options which is always listed in the event details. If you have questions about a particular event, please send us an email at info@canaancolonial.com
Where should I park?

North Canaan has plenty of free parking available. In addition to street parking, there is a large municipal lot just north of us on Railroad Street (take a left after Ilse). Additionally, we have a small parking lot located just south of the building. Only the parking parallel to our building is ours; the rest of the lot is private residential parking. There is also limited public parking directly across the street in between Industry Kitchen & Bar and Birdie's.
Do you have a liquor license?

No, we do not currently have a liquor license. We hope to have one in the future.
Can I sponsor a free community movie?

Absolutely! Please review the details of our community movie sponsorship page and send us an inquiry at events@canaancolonial.com.
Can your screen be used for anything other than movies?

Yes! Our projection system is computer-based. That means we can show almost anything: home videos, slideshows, corporate training presentations, stationary images, and more. While we do have the ability to stream content, we cannot show any film/show without the proper rights.
What is your movie ticket return policy?

Our movie tickets are non-refundable. Tickets for paid movies can be purchased at the door if you are uncertain that you can make it.
Do you offer private movie showings?

Yes! Whether you're looking to have a movie birthday party, offer a fun recreation option for your boarding school, or anything in between, we'd love to host you. Please send an inquiry to events@canaancolonial.com
Your free movie is sold out! Can I still come?

We release the same number of tickets as seats in our theatre for all of our free community showings. Therefore we cannot promise you a spot if you did not manage to reserve a free ticket. However, since it is a free event, we do tend to have 10-20 no shows. If you would like to come to the theatre on stand by, we may be able to let you in 5 minutes before showtime if we have enough seats available.
Can I host a public event at your space?

Potentially! If you're interested in hosting a ticketed event at the Colonial, we'd love to work with you to make it happen. Please fill out our public event inquiry form for more information.
Can I rent your space for a private party?

Sure can! We rent out our whole building (theatre and ballroom) both individually and as a package. Please fill out our private event inquiry for a quote. [Please note: private events are by invite only. If you intend on selling tickets, we consider that a public event and is treated differently].
Do you cater?

No. We do not offer any catering services or packages at the moment. If you are hosting a private event, you are free to get catering from any licensed establishment of your choice. We may be able to sell concessions during your event if desired, depending on lead time and staffing.
Do you have any sound equipment for live music?

No. Our theatre speaker system cannot be used for live musical performances. Bands/musical acts are required bring in all of their own sound equipment (we have plenty of stage outlets for the purpose). We have wireless microphones that can used for speaking (announcements, auctions, interviews, etc.) but not for singing/use with musical accompaniment.
Will you consider booking a specific comedian/performance/etc.?

Our dream is for The Colonial Theatre to play host to a range of different events, well beyond the confines of movies. However, at this time we are a very small, part-time team and we are not producing our own events. In other words, we are not booking entertainers ourselves. That being said, producers/entertainers are welcome to work with us to host their event at the Colonial (as well the case with the Ronnie Reed comedy show).
